Re: [AGA-mcm] browsing and rowsing

As someone said in reply, San Jose would probably make a better
location -- much cheaper and just as accessible. But it's all moot unless there's a champion.

It's true, the SF area would be a great area for a
convention *if* we could get the folks east of the
Mississippi to go there. But who could they put on the
program that has that much draw?

Another thought: SF hotel rates? If he wants reasonable
hotel rates he better forget SF and start thinking San
Pablo or Oakland across the bay. Another town in which I've
lived, btw.

Interesting comment from Tom

"I'm bucking for next years in SF. We have the folks, we
have the
location, we have the natural areas, we have great
stores, tanks, large
public aquariums, killer Japanese gardens, best food,
inspiring nature, we
can get plants from Asian importers regularly so a large
order for the AGA
would not be a big issue.
Bing Seto and Dick Au discus folks(perhaps a tour),
Monterey Bay Aqaurium
behind the scenes tour, that place is second to none.
Very tough to beat this place.

Numerous vendors make their home here(Aquaria, Kordon,
and a dozen
others).

I'm looking for hotel sites for it now.

Hope to get it and see you all here next year. 200$ for
coast to coast
flights anywhere pretty much in the USA.

If you wanna stay another few days, ski Tahoe, see
Yosemite, see the
biggest, the oldest and the tallest trees in the world
all in the same
day.

Regards,
Tom Barr"

Has Tom actually talked to anyone about a bid? SF could
be very cool.

The Northeast Council of Aquarium Societies will feature Christel, author of
_Aquarium Plants_, among its speakers at its 30th Annual Convention. It's the
longest running consecutive general tropical fish convention in the country and
one of the most fun to attend.
