You can't teach the IRS a lesson, you can only p them off.
Think of being stopped by a cop.

But no, we don't want a list of a virtually daily activity.
It's the actual events. IT's liek the diff between saying,
"Oh, I go shopping all the time," and "I went to Macys on
dates x, xx, and y and Home Depot on xx, xx, xxx, xxx,
x,xx, x,x,x . . ."

Or deducting for car mileage and just giving a number
rather than a log of car use.

Anyhoo, I don't want a membership daily log. but if we gave
out pamphets, the date would be better to have--e.g., at
NEC, I have the NEC dates, btw.

These things are more like admin/maintenance rather than
performing service to the community, building a hospital,
having a bake sale to raise money for the old folks' home,
etc.

The dates are detail that evidences tracking and makes
things lookk more real, less made up -- yes, people
actually make up stuff and tell it to the IRS and for some
reason, they tend to be skeptical.
