Yes, *we* were prepared for the idea that AGA 2004 might not make a profit. But I don't think any local club is ever going to be prepared for that idea. And the more successful AGA conventions we have, the more attractive the notion of earning revenue is. Then it starts to be the Main Reason why local clubs want to host the convention--because it is a money-making venture for them. (I'm not saying that they don't love the hobby and want to promote it.)
We need to expect this attitude and deal with it, probably by resigning ourselves to earning revenue. :-)
