There is little that can be done. If people want to sell
out of their room, you could call the local govt and reprot
them for not collecting and paying sales tax but that's
about it.

Yes, but that might be reversed depending on the thing with
the IRS goes. Or we could ask a nonprof tax person, which
is still my recommendaton to the Board.

If they donate all proceeds, then they are just another
donor to the AGA and their is no real issue about them
benefiting from the AGA.

We have no legal authority to dictate what people do in
their rooms. Even the hotel has limited authority in that
regard. We *could* not let people that sell register and
keep them out of the convention activities but I'd guess
they'd like that just fine. I.e., we can exclude them from
things but we can't make them do anything. Citizen's arrest
if they appear to break the law, but that's very risky in
terms of liabilities. Or turn them in on the tax avoidance.

I only know of one or two people that have sold at AGA and
one guy in Dallas walked up at the end and gave a small
amount of money to AGA because he had been selling out of
his room -- Erik might remember that better than I. I saw
more of it at NEC than AGA. But it could become an issue if
our conventions get bigger and more widely known. If you
gather people with money, you'll attract people trying to
get that money.
