Hi Phil, Yea, that is something we tried to do several years ago. We even had the TCA create a special new category just for us with our own rules and judges. The only problem was Tim's, Ricky's and ,my tanks were not ready to go for the show so we had one member enter a few marginal tanks. It was a great opportunity and publicity for DFWAPC but it was much harder to execute than we had figured. Bailin entered a real nice tank one year in the class we are discussing and it did drive a lot of interest, but since a planted tank is pre-set not assembled at the show it violates the class rule of using an issued 10 gallon tank. That was the reason I had the TCA create a special class for us. I even had an idea of planting my 10 gallon planted tank on mesh and bringing it to the show then transplaning the whole aquascape from my tank to the show tank. Anyways, I do think it would be a good idea but I have learned from experience that it is a lot harder to have your tank peak on a specific day rather than a photo contest where you can take a pic whenever it is at that peak moment. I have always thought that there are a lot of potential synergies behind the two clubs, but I am not sure that other DFWAPC members see them in the same light.
