I was thinking that maybe the announcement on the AGA
website should mention a couple more things. These are
things that always seem to come up early on when a local
club entertains the notion of hosting a convention:
-- the convention doesn't have to be in November but
should avoid conflicts with other hobby conventions and
holidays,
-- specify a deadline for proposals for a 2006 convention.
Given that the first point affects the second. I suggest a
specifying a "floating" deadline of 9 months prior to the
event. Thus, to propose hosting a November convention, the
deadline would be February 2006, to propose, for example, a
September convention, the deadline would be December 2005.
Any thoughts?
Btw, we did have expressions of interest regarding a 2005
convention from a couple other clubs, they just didn't
carry it into a work effort like SFBAAPS -- partly out of
lack of anticipated resources and partly because they
figured another club was already being considered. Phil's
group comes to mind and there was a midwestern club too,
iirc.
