Hey Erik, what more could you want to hear about on April 15 than tax matters? Under the Federal Tax Code, as an organization receognized under 501(c)4 of the Tax Code, we must include a conspicuous statement accompanying *any* solicitation for money stating that payments are not deductible. I have drafted the following text for the website, which includes the required language. "The AGA is incorporated and recognized under the laws of Massachussets as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization. The Federal government recognizes the AGA as a tax-exempt non-profit organization. Payments to the AGA are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes." If you folks think this is too much (I tend to think, the less said the better but what the heck), then just use the last sentence, which is required. Unfortunately, since we just printed brouchures, the brochures also should state, "Payments to the AGA are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes." Cheryl, maybe you can make the change in the Adobe file. Btw, for you trivia folks, item 1) it is because we are recognized under 501(c)4 and not 501(c)3 that our recognition can go back to date of incorporation even though the application was filed after the deadline. Trivia item 2) a horticultural society is mentioned as a paradigm for a 501(c)4 organization. sh _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm
