Good question. Wish I had thought of it.
I think any place where we are accepting money counts as a solicitation. For the web site, is it possible to put that statement on the shopping cart and on the "if paying by check" place on the bookstore page? I think that covers us for all website payments.
We don't have that option. The "Shopping Cart" is controlled by PayPal, not us. And since we've got little "Add to Cart" links everywhere, we can't really put them on every page (or CAN we?). The closest I can get to that is to put it on the page that pops up AFTER you complete the purchase (that has the survey form for Cheryl).

The only other place would be the brouchures since we accept bring money in that way too. We can at least make the change for the next time we get some printed and for any electronic copies of the brochure that we give out. I don't think this will be a big issue. Roger Miller is the only one that ever asked me about "deductibility". sh --- Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote:Which page? Organizational info? Or front? On Fri, 15 Apr 2005, S. Under the Federal Tax Code, as an organizationreceognizedunder 501(c)4 of the Tax Code, we must include a conspicuous statement accompanying *any* solicitationformoney stating that payments are not deductible. I have drafted the following text for the website, whichincludesthe required language. "The AGA is incorporated and recognized under the lawsofMassachussets as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization.TheFederal government recognizes the AGA as a tax-exempt non-profit organization. Payments to the AGA are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federalincometax purposes." If you folks think this is too much (I tend to think, theless said the better but what the heck), then just usethelast sentence, which is required. Unfortunately, since we just printed brouchures, the brochures also should state, "Payments to the AGA arenotdeductible as charitable contributions for Federalincometax purposes." Cheryl, maybe you can make the change intheAdobe file. Btw, for you trivia folks, item 1) it is because we are recognized under 501(c)4 and not 501(c)3 that our recognition can go back to date of incorporation even though the application was filed after the deadline. Trivia item 2) a horticultural society is mentioned asaparadigm for a 501(c)4 organization. sh _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm-- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm_______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm
