Re: [AGA-mcm] [Fwd: Re:Plant Research project] -- or- my personal rambling

Interesting point, Paul. It seems to me that this would be
jsut covering well-trodden ground unless a scientific
approach was taken.

As for less than scientific assessments, there are
anecdotes aplenty regarding light effects. To go beyond
that and be scientific, which would mean controling for
conditions and quantifying diffs, might have some
intellectual value. However, there's lots of stuff to
control for if one really wanted to be able to zero in on
the effect of different colors of light. One could note
that the amount of photosynthesis can vary over the course
of an afternoon. Even the CO2 output from a yeast or a
pressurized system can vary a bit over the course of the
afternoon if the ambient temp changes. But, of course it
would be much ado about little.

To me, the really odd thing is, we're not talking about,
say, blue bulbs versus red bulbs versus green bulbs; we're
talking about white bulbs. Various shades of white!
To expect to *scientifically* quantify diffs that haven't
already been discussed from yin to yang seems a bit silly
to me.

That the fellow used Erik's name in a misleading way, makes
me question whether the fellow is a straight shooter
anyway.
