A little different than, say, asking a company like Seachem to sponsor it, where the goal is logo exposure only.

They might. But this is where it gets sticky. Ben wrote the article FOR DFWAPC. WE offer to publish the thing and hand it out at OUR events, then we want them to pay for it. Doesn't sound right. But I agree that it simply MUST be done somehow. Cheryl Erik Olson wrote:Ooh, Shawn Van Doren has one of those laser printers -- she used to use it for doing The Fish Flash every month. I can go ask.I really want to do this. This is something very cool, helps new folks, clearly falls under our mission statements & all that. Even promotes the AGA. But the $2k price tag is a real setback with only a week to go...Hey, any chance DFWAPC might kick in $500 for 1/4 of the copies? - Erik On Tue, 12 Jul 2005, Larry Lampert wrote:I really liked it (Sans the hey its Larry :-)). It is comprhensive and well written and the layout just plain rocks! I like the idea of giving this out. I just think there has to be some way of doing it for less than $2000. What if we bought Cheryl an inexpensive @$500 color laser. I have a Minolta QMS Magicolor 2300 in my office that does an OK job. It is not a real four color press by any means, but it is a color laser. For those who don't know the main advanatage of Laser over inkjet is not quality or cost but rather the fact that the ink is fused into the paper so that it will not bleed under moisture. SOmething fish shows are known for . This is just an idea and it would still be expensive when you add toner and paper but in the long run it might be worth considering. I am not really sure but that is all I can think of. Regards, Larry --- Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote:Everyone else seems mighty silent on this issue.... especially Mr Budget. Hello? I'm torn here, because it seems thatif we pay this much, weshould not have it a free publication. I'm alsotorn, because I also knowhow much effort it takes to inkjet this stuff.Any chance we could knockoff a few hundred bucks by getting a sponsor ortwo (splat a corporate logoon the back)? - Erik On Mon, 11 Jul 2005, Cheryl Rogers wrote:I am willing to just go get some paper and inkcartridges and print somehere. She has anupcoming event where she can hand them out atthe beginning of August. Apublication of this sort has "legs" and would begoos for a very longtime. Here's what we're talking about. Double parenthood caught up with him, too,Erik, but he got slammed withboth kids at once. So I've been updating the articles section andone of the upcomingarticles is by Ben Belton. He has been workingon an article called TheBasics. It has been "almost finished" forabout a year. I had read bitsand pieces, but since he wasn't done with it,I didn't bother to readthe whole thing. I didn't want to mess him upby mucking with the files. When I found out that were were going to havea table at ACA, I thought, you know, this is a great article for newbies.I wonder if I couldreformat it and print it for the fish-folk atACA?Just as I was finishing that, the new TAG cameto my mailbox and <smacksforehead!> there's an article by Scott that Ididn't even know was inthe works COVERING THE SAME TOPICS! And withmostly the same opinions.I feel so conflicted. Does anyone have aproblem with us handing outBen's article at the ACA/AGA/DFWAPC table, knowing that an article willbe published in TAG the next month?
