Sorry, perhaps I didn't make it clear enough. We would sell CHRISTEL'S ORIGINAL GERMAN BOOK, complete with its beautiful pictures, unmangled by Krieger. Bundled with it would be our little black & white English translation "script". Yes, people would have to "read along". But they would have a translation.
Ah ha! That's a good idea. I'd just gotten back from a long round-trip up to Greensboro last night and must have missed that. Sharon had an employee dinner at the Petty's last night and it was really hot and we walked a lot. On the bright side, Richard Petty has a really nice lake on his property that's got all sorts of neat plants. It's the first place I can say for sure that I've seen L. cardinalis in the wild.
Serious question. Who says we have to sell any books we buy at retail prices? I don't know what wholesale is on books and what the usual mark-up is, but why can't we just put a small mark up to make a little money and sell it for a price that commercials other than Amazon won't be able to touch? We're sure to sell our stock then. One thing I have noticed is that most folks have a general good will towards the AGA even if they're not members. If we offered things they wanted they would do those things with us in preferrence to commercial entities. We don't get them because we don't do them.
I'm just hypothesising, but what if we were to offer a pre-order deal on the hypothetical book almost at wholesale prices and then bought only 50-100 more copies for later sale?
