The 8' sounds like most reasonable.  I forget how high the ceilings are in 
there, but the object is to be able to loop a wire over a chandelier, or 
tape it on with gaffer tape.

That sounds perfect.  Karen's right, too... it's not like we're in the 
middle of Brazil or something... we can go to the local Home Depot if 
needed.

Since I'm not doing stage lighting, and we're not bringing kids, we will 
be able to pack it all!
