I volunteer to keep track of registration. I will not do the sales
table this year, although I am willing to recruit and train someone
else to do it. The DFWAPC is petering out lately. The last few meetings have been sort of lame and poorly attended, mostly due to lack of leadership IMO. A huge project of this type would either regenerate the club or break it completely. And finally, I believe I am among friends here so I will speak honestly. I am against having Amano speak. It's like we can't think of anyone else. I don't have any better ideas other than what has been talked about on this list. Maybe it's time to get some new blood in on the discussion. I am hoping to get a more detailed proposal from them this time around. I do think that we are going to have to revisit the costs. Hotels have raised rates for eerything the last few years. They also seem less inclined to deal on things. I really would like to have someone try to get a hold of Amano and of course Tomoko to see if they would be interested in speaking. This will have to wait until we get some dates though. I think you have the banner or at least you did and I just did jury duty two weeks ago so I guess I am all out of excuses ;-). And you just got started, finally, on that household repair that you've been "planning" getting around to for four or five years. Nonetheless, it's time again to start thinking about producing an AGA convention. By our own standards, "We recommended that a draft proposal, including at least the names of the committee heads, anticipated location and date, and possible speakers, be submitted not later than 12 months before the proposed Convention start date." Assuming we would have the 2008 convention again in November, well, you do the math. So start thinking up places, potential speakers, tasks you've been aching to undertake, folks that we can bring on board to be part of the production crew, trying to remember who the heck has the convention banner, begin political maneuvering to not [backspace backspace backspace] get appointed as convention chair, and start writing up that crib sheet of all the reasons why you can't do this that or the other convention chore (maybe you have one left over from the last time you got a jury-duty notice). sh> _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm_______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm |
