Isn't the weight printed on the receipts? So we (lol) could look at
receipts and see which ones are foreign, how much they weighed, and
what it cost? Cheryl S. Hieber wrote: Someone on the Mangement Committee? I was a someone once. Now I'm just a whoever. Someday I'll be a whatshisname, but that beats being an "Oh, him!" Thinking out loud here -- Relative volume isn't so much an issue here; so it's a question of the relative weights, right? I think we (how victorian) could weigh the various items, figure the UPS shipping price for each unique weight (a little rounding up will simply things here) and then apply the rates accordingly to each item. I can do this if no one else has the notion. I need to know what kind of case ships with which DVD (or do they all weigh the same), or what the total package weight typcially is. Part of the complication is that we have something like 30plus items for sale although many of these are the same shippingwise (this DVD or that) this TAG or that PAM. When was the last time we adjusted unit or shipping prices? sh ----- Original Message ---- From: Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> To: Jen Dillon <jen.ford@gmail.com> Cc: aga-mcm@thekrib.com Sent: Friday, April 3, 2009 1:15:51 AM Subject: Re: [AGA-mcm] TAG and PAM inventory Done, on website stuff. Wow, we're catching up fast -- so only 2008 TAGs remain in back issues -- Cheryl, I'm gonna need those PDFs for the e-archive... In terms of "flat", I was thinking more along the lines of including the shipping PER item. i.e., individual TAG or PAM - $3 extra; APH $7 extra; etc. Then I could have the website show two options for each purchase, the domestic and foreign. Maybe we could get someone on the management committee to calculate a ballpark cost to ship each of these types of items. - Erik On Thu, 2 Apr 2009, Jen Dillon wrote:PAM Spring 2001 (Issue #5) - Officially SOLD OUT. As far as the flat rate foreign shipping - that would certainly make my life easier. I'm not sure what a fair price would be. Depending on what they get (APH vs. TAGs), shipping generally runs between $10-15. I've had a couple more than that, a couple less, but I'd say that's a good estimate. I can dig up more receipts if you'd like to see data breakdown. Please let me know what the Board has to say about adding this? - Jen On Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 11:43 AM, Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote: On Fri, 13 Mar 2009, Jen Dillon wrote: PAM Spring 2001 (Issue #5) - I only have 2 left, so I'd say these are basically sold out. TAG - We have Vol. 20 no 2 - Present and nothing before. I've gotten several requests for older issues that I've had to turn down. Website now updated with these Another thing that I've been wondering - Is there any way to make it easier to catch people who forget to pay the foreign shipping charge? I keep missing them, and I really *really* really hate asking people for money, especially if I catch my mistake after I've already sent the magazines. I think many of these people just don't see that they have to ask for a shipping estimate - can we make it clearer somehow? The best way I can see is to have a fixed price for foreign orders for EVERYTHING, so they have to select one or the other. I think it was left the confused way because Diana preferred to calculate the shipping based on the total order. But if you could figure out a simple flat rate that covers most/all countries, then we could just allow them to pre-select. Aside from this, I don't think we have any sort of magic calculator app that will do it for us, nor does PayPal offer it. :( - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com-- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm |
