But even with that, our moderators apparently never utilized it & subscribed to the mailing list. What will be different after we switch to a different method of delivery? This "so called moderator' forgets to log in all the time for the same reason I think the
geezers like an email list. It comes to them. I would probably never go to GWAPA or APC either
if they didn't come to me.

I think as long as people could subscribe and get notifications, it wouldn't matter so much if
they got the pictures and maybe not if they didn't get text. GWAPA is the only forum of 3-4 I
belong to that sends the text.... I think.

transferred over without a hitch (which pleasantly surprised me), and I was able to
mostly convert it to 3.0.6 on the new machine (as a test).

This new version of phpbb seems to have a lot of good stuff built-in: attachments,
Atom Feeds, and better e-mail subscription. The thing that's really annoying,
though, is that it won't bloody e-mail the actual text of the posts (compared to a
feed reader, which will actually show you what's said)... which is why I did the
geezer gateway to begin with.

If the Atom Feed thing works correctly, I won't be using the e-mail subscription at
all. I tend to have all my usual websites aggregated under a feed reader these
days, and that *does* show all the text of the posts.

Lots of stuff didn't transfer over automatically, including the avatars & color
scheme, so I will have some more work to do... but I think this has given me hope we
can do the switch-out within the next couple weeks. It is also my hope that we can
then get all the so-called moderators on the forum to subscribe in one of these two
ways, so that folks other than Scott and Cheryl answer questions there.
