I love this story!!! I have heard it before nice to hear it now. -- Kathy "Perhaps wisdom is simply waiting, and healing a question of time. And anything good you've ever been given is yours forever.".....from Kitchen Table Wisdom by Rachel Naomi Remen On Sat, 26 Dec 2009, Paula Hofmann wrote:
Thanks to both of you! Reminds me of the story where a rancher in a war torn country rounds up a head of wild horses. All his neighbors come to congratulate him. He shrugs his shoulders and says "Could be good, could be bad." While breaking the horses his only son falls off, breaking his leg. His neighbors commiserate on what bad luck. He shrugs his shoulders and says "Could be good, could be bad." The army comes to conscript all the young men, but don't take his son because of the broken leg.... Sometimes what I think is the worst thing that every happened to me turns out to be the best! I too suffer from a fatal disease, but if I don't drink alcohol, I don't die from it. In a world where most people cover up and it is way harder in life to be honest, and admit our weaknesses (which in return can be our strengths or offer strength to someone else going throught the same thing)...it is really refreshing to hear someone say how it is. I admire your courage and strength. Keep up the good work, and know you have our support. Life interferes with everything. Once, not so long ago, I used to say, well "when this is over" I will do xy or z. Or life will be good once I get through this. Now I just know I have to enjoy each moment for what it is. Yes, it may be a really good or crappy day, but I can find good to enjoy and celebrate on most days. It helps. So says the person who just finished her second set of chemo, and hopes that it will be the last, but knows my doc are saying one more. Still working on getting me in remission (from Wegener's granulomatosis), and I am hoping my docs do it soon so I can get off the whopping doses of steroids that they have been giving me for the last 3 years (and making me look like the pillsbury dough boy...yuk!).
