I've actually been trying to scan the bot daily. (that part is working
great!!!)  Today there was so much spam that I actually missed the real post
mixed in there. I've even been trying to post more.  Unfortunately, this is
exactly the kind of post I don't have time for right now... someone new and
well-meaning, but totally clueless - where you want to say, stop, don't even
put water in the tank, go read a book first.

A bit back I sent out a mass e-mail to all moderaters asking them all to 
please log in to the forum and change their digest and notification 
settings.  As a result, Jason, Larry & cul8rg8r at least logged in.  I


Cavan (last logged in June 2009), Leff Ludwig (August 2006), Paul 
Krombholz (Oct 2007), Sean Murphy (Nov 2009), and Ghazanfar (Aug 2009) did 
not respond to the e-mail.

I suggest that we need to get some better moderators, and at least replace 
the ones who haven't been here in two years.

There's a newbie post from this morning that would be great to reply to.

Switched to Re-captcha last Friday after we started getting daily spam. 
Went the whole weekend without any, and then got two spammers this 
morning.  Read that Re-captcha isn't that good either.  But also looks 
like if I change back to the original captcha but don't use default 
settings, that may be less breakable.

Some of the spammers are either very sophisticated 'bots, or are actual 
people being paid to do this.  There was one post this morning that was 
basically a reply to a post from someone in the Phillipines, and it said 
"hey, I see you're in the Phillipines, we should meet."  The signature was 
a link to a cigar website or something.  Other replies have been almost 
on-topic.
