Well water.  Oh no that changes everything.  

No it doesn't -- I was just kidding.  Well water is usually
fine.

Pure RO is usually not so fine; it's missing all those nice
micronutrient, minerals, that plants and fish seem to like.
 I'm not a chemist but I think most drinkable water is
suitable for aquaria. 

If the water is too abundant with some things, then you
might need to reduce the levels of those things.   If it's
especially high in iron or nitrates, for example, it might
need to be cut with some RO water but in many cases well
water is just fine.

If the pH is very high, you might want to cut it with RO or
just add a little acid to bring the pH down.

But it probably is fine just as it is.  Can you find out
what's in your water?  Do you need a water softener to use
the water for household purposes?
