I can hardly drink our tap water sometimes because of the additives and it's so alkaline that my little test kit can't measure it. I use well water from my daughter's house to water my non-aquatic plants - especially ferns (which I collect) The well water tests out at about neutral, so adding a little peat under the substrate should work out OK ?
