1. I would reduce the light, first step - go for 2 watts per gallon.
2. You can just for now reduce the light in one hour - 8 hours per day.
3. Is your algae is like hair ? can you remove it by hand ?? (If you can
just do it....)
4. Do you use tap water ???
Is your algae is like blooming in the tank ?
There is another solution that might serve you as a final solution, but try
to take these steps first and see what happens.
