You will find some recent discussion about raising japonica at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreshwaterShrimp/ Also look at http://users.skynet.be/caridina-japonica/ and http://www.jayscustomcomputers.com/wilma/ japonica are born as larvae and have specific requirements to raise them - not real easy.
