You will find some recent discussion about raising japonica

http://www.jayscustomcomputers.com/wilma/

japonica are born as larvae and have specific requirements
to raise them - not real easy.  I would suggest signing onto
the Yahoo list and asking for help - small but very friendly
and helpful group.
