My problem with noise isn't so much the 60Hz hum of the motor -- although some pumps are quiter inthe regard than others -- but the noise of the impeller on the shaft. On pumps made to turn in either directions, which includes most wet-rotor pumps these days, the the "loose" piece that vibrates at start and causes the rotor to start to rotate in one direction or the other , that piece can continue virating and causing a clickety racket. That's want I want to avoid. Scott H. ===== S.
