"oxygenated water" i.e., Hydrogen Peroxide can do a number
on lots of things. It's one way to bleach hair -- but don't
use too much or you might have less hair after than before.
Like other rapid oxidizers, it's an antibacterial. In small
amounts, it won't kill you -- it's used in juice boxes so
they can sit of shelves for weeks and weeks without
refrigeration and still not spoil or lose that wonderful
natural "juice-like" flavor.

Of course, fish can stand less of it than you or I, because
they just don't have the body mass that humans do. If I
wanted to, I could drink a guppy right under the table!
