Ramshorn snails consume Cyanobacteria quickly. I've seen this happen
and observed associated snail population explosion. Amazing. Would
never of thought this to be possible.
I think there may be an association between Blue Greens and DOC
(Dissolved Organic Carbons). Nutrient limiting factors may promote
Cyanobacteria. This could happen in sections of a heavily planted
aquaria lacking a water current sufficient to knock off metabolic
wastes from some plant tissues on the one hand, and delivering
essential nutrients on the other.
