WEll it's not just Anubias. Many rhizomes will rot:  Cryptocorynes,
Bolbitis, Microsorium, and most tubers: Nymphaea, Crinums, Aponogetons,
Nuphar, Barclaya and even the crown of many rosette plants such as
Echinodorus can rot when buried.
