1. If plants and fish are happy I wouldn't touch this...
What you read is basically true since high power filters that circulate
water can drive out CO2 and limit the availability for other plant important
nutritients.
2. As for the shrimps - they do require clean water preferred slightly
acidic. Shrimps are very sensitive for metals in the water especially lead.
