Years ago they used to recommend a bath in Potassium Permanganate, I'm not sure if this is still in vogue.

Hi,

What is a good procedure to rid collected wild plants (or plants from a 
questionable source) of snails, leaches, and other undesirable stuff?  I have 
tried using chlorox diluted 1 part with 20 parts of water, and then soaking for 
two minutes followed by rinsing in a bucket of fresh water.  Crypts are about 
the only thing that survives.  Amazon swords look ok after treatment, but are 
transparent in a week.   Floating plants and hornwort are bleached completely in 
minutes.
