>My point: 1. It's in PAM's interest to cover ANY cool event in the hobby. I agree. >2. The AGA is finally starting to move away from the AGA=TAG mode and do >events of general interest to the hobby and outside of AGA membership. Yes, and we need to let as many people know about this as possible. This is more likely going to happen thru the web and APD which reaches 1000's than PAM which currently reaches 100's >3. Such broad-appeal events should be promoted and reported outside of the >AGA as well as from within. 3. If PAM is here for the long haul, then >it's one of the primary vehicles for this promotion, and we should be on >good relations with the magazine. I also agree and with the previous comments that Dave is trying hard to help AGA and the hobby in general... so we should try to accomodate his needs when it is reasonable and not in conflict with our own. >Does anyone have any suggestions on how we should proceed here? Try to satisfy mary and Dave. Let Mary publish the winning photos in TAG and let Dave have some alternative photos of the runnner ups or other views of the winners.... chances are, he will like different ones than Mary (or even the judges). So far, Dave's choices for images and mine hardly ever agree! Another point: I think the next TAG will probably come out before the next PAM.... so all the discussion about who has first dibs may be a non-issue anyway. I also agree with the others who say that there is an unlimited amount of articles that could come out of the contest-showcase and PAM is another vehicle for sharing the information while it is still hot. I don't feel that we need the same restrictions in dividing the material and images with PFK or Aquarium Heute because there is less overlap in our readerships. I also think we will get the english translation of the Aquarium Heute article for TAG which will more than compensate for letting horst publish it.... not to mention the publicity in Europe!
