I think that part of the problem is that Mary, in this instance is not accepting that the MC is NOT the decision making body for AGA. If this were a technical issue about the production or editting of TAG I wouldn't DREAM of letting anyone make the decision without defering to the editor's wishes. But Mary is _not_ the person who should be making decisions on advertising elsewhere, or on what we print in magazines other than TAG. She is welcome to express her opinion, but the SC does not need to ask her permission. I agree completey that Mary should NOT be pushed to work with a person who makes her so uncomfortable. The difference here is that we are _not_ asking her to work with Dave. We are asking her to accept the decision to place information concerning the contest in another publication. I think it is COMPLETELY unreasonable to allow other magazines such as PFK, AFM and Aquarium Heute to print articles about the showcase and then tell Dave that he alone is only going to be allowed the leftovers, sometime late next spring. > Does anyone have any suggestions on how we should proceed here? I'll be interested to hear if the rest of the SC has some words of wisdom. I've got to drive in to Boston with her Monday night. (I'm really looking forward to THAT experience!<g>) I've already talked to David, and he has agreed to try to sit down with me and see if we can settle her down a little, but I think it would help to be able to present a united front, bringing her the feelings of the entire SC. One thing I think that we as the SC really need to discuss is how we present things for discussion with the MC. I'm starting to think that perhaps we need to first talk about it among ourselves before we present it to the whole group for comments. I also think this is another good example of why we NEED bylays ASAP. So that we can point to paragraph C, section 6 and say, "gee, the [editor, committee member, book sales person... take your pick] has authority to make THIS decision, but the SC is the group that will make this other decision."
