I think we should be giving ALL these magazines pictures to run. I think it's good for promoting the event for next year, and good for promoting the AGA in general. I think we should make sure to give PAM pictures that won't be in TAG because of the overlap, but that's the extent of it. Folks, these spreads are FREE ADS for the AGA Event. Now as for "should we be helping Dave? What has HE done for US?" arguments, Karen has illustrated several examples. I point you to a few more: When the convention was not being heavily promoted on the APD list (partly my fault, not being on the ball), Dave stepped in TWICE personally and majorly pushed the event. Just did it. Dave ran the AGA's bookstore program for several years. And he has volunteered to coordinate a live plant show at our next convention. > I certainly think we should be the first to publish the results when > we are ready. There is no debate on this. There will be no results listed in PAM if our deal goes. And I suspect if the deal falls through, Dave will have no interest in publicising the event, so same result accomplished. > It was Dave's idea to start PAM. I think it really is just a matter of him having two pages that he had talked with James about filling with showcase photos, and now that deadline is about a week away, he needs to know whether to run them or fill them with something else. > I think we should just turn off our hearing aid > until we are ready to turn it on. I'm not sure what we're waiting for. I think the time is now to set some positive goals and precedents... what the AGA is doing FOR the hobby. We had a good start with the showcase and the convention, but we're at a juncture here as to what happens next. There are a lot of shared personel in PAM, the AGA and the regional clubs, e.g. San Fransisco Bay APS. There is somewhat of a balance between these groups, despite the mayhem last year. James and I will be deciding whether to run the showcase again next year. Talks will begin soon as to who will want to host next year's convention. Each one of these decisions will be influenced by the precedents we set now. Do we go forward as a cooperative SERVICE organization to the hobby at large? Or do we huddle around in our little cave with our hands tightly clutching the little bit of stuff that we insist on calling "ours"? - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
