APD Law Suit

Here is a copy of the letter I just sent to the APD.  I fully intend to
contribute to any defense fund that is set up personally, but I would
strongly support the AGA making a substantial donation to this fund as well.

While the APD does not "belong" to us, it is the voice of the AGA in a very
real and substantial way.  If we don't protect it, it may be gone.  If it
goes, what do we do?  Set up an AGA list?  If so, and we don't support
Cynthia (and the others) in this, we are leaving ourselves open to exactly
the same sort of heavy handed tactics.

I'm very glad that I came out from under my rock at the right time to see
this.  I agree with everything Steve has said.

First my story:

It's not a big one, because I heeded the warnings of other list members and
have never ordered anything from Petswarehouse.  There is no possible way
that they got my E-mail address from me contacting them.  Yet, along with
probably most of the othe APD members, I was also "spammed" with their
unsolicited advertisements in my E-mail box.

It is unlikely that I would have done business with Petswarehouse just based
on their reputation with people I know and trust.  But there's not a chance
that I would even consider doing buisness with them if they are going to
deal with their dissatisfied customers by suing them.

And to add to what someone else mentioned, let's be clear that this is NOT
Pet Warehouse that we are discussing.  Though I have never ordered plants
from Pet Warehouse, both I and our school system regularly order supplies
and equipment from Pet Warehouse, and have always received prompt courteous
service, and exactly what we've ordered.

And yes, Steve, I would be VERY willing to contribute to a legal defense
fund.  Cynthia does a TREMENDOUS service to this hobby by maintaining this
list, and does a wonderful job as "ListMom" keeping us in line and on track
as necessary.  She, and the people who expressed their honest opinions in
discussions on this list deserve all of our support.  Tell me where to sign
up.
