Hello Hayakawa san --
Thank you for your response. On your
points:
1) The Aquatic Gardener (TAG) is going to be a
full color magazine. We completely agree that Amano san's images are so
spectacular that they absolutely require color.
2) We understand your agreement with TFH, and that
TAG would not have an exclusivity about ADA articles. Is there any chance that,
since we publish quarterly, TAG could be given a different article from those
which are published in TFH. If that is not possible, then having TAG run
articles that also appear in TFH is not a problem, as the subscribers to TAG are
most probably very different from those to TFH.
Please get back to me about the products at your
convenience.
Thank you for your response, and I look forward to
beginning this relationship between ADA and AGA.
Kind regards,
David Lass
PS -- Please be aware that Karen Randall has taken
over the position of Chairperson of the AGA Publications Committee and Editor of
TAG. You met Karen in Chatanooga in November, and she is very well known
person in the aquarium plant world. She also has extensive experience with
publications, and we are confident that under her leadership TAG will become a
world class magazine. We are pleased that ADA will be a part of our
growth.

Dear Mr. Lass,
I certainly received your e-mail
at end of last month. Our company started new year's operation from this
Monday. Excuse me for not having replied to you sooner.
Picture and article contribution
I have talked about this possiblility with Mr.
Amano. It is no problem for us to send you the picture data, and Aqua Journal
Japanese version to you, so that you can publish about Nature Aquarium and
Japanese planted aquarium hobbyists.
In return we are entitled to have two page
advertisement space on your magazine.
We have several points we would like to
confirm.
1. Will Aquatic Gardener (Quarterly magazine) be
published in black-and white? Not full color?
If not full color, we are afraid if it may not be
possible to covey Mr. Amano's nature aquarium layout image to your
readers.
2. Please be noted that we also have to provide our
article for TFH magazine as we have an agreement with them. This means Aquatic
Gardener will not be exclusive American magazine to carry the Nature Aquarium
picture and article.
Product distribution
I understand this product distribution is not
intened as commercial basis. You only publish announce about sales of ADA
layout tools on Aquatic Gardener magazine, and you intend to sell to AGA
members. As for the offering price and weight, please give me more
time.
Sincerely,
Nozomi Hayakawa
