TAG

Hi folks,

I wanted to update you on what's going on with TAG, and get your input.

The good news is that TAG has been "almost done" for 2 weeks and holding.
Cheryl has done an awesome job and the magazine looks gorgeous. The article
line-up is great, and we have lots of good photos. We already have a number
of good articles either in or in the pipeline for the next issue.

The bad news is the advertising situation. We seem to have two ads (besides
the Amano spread) that are firm. Only one of those (Seachem) has so far
actually gotten the copy to Cheryl, and that was like pulling teeth.
Tropica is at least communicating with her, and she's hoping they'll get it
to her in the next day or two. (Claus is away, or I'd talk to him myself)

I'm PRAYING that we can have the layout in the printer's hands by the end of
this week. Their turn-around time was good last time, so I'm expecting the
same this time.

On the subject of periodical rate mailing, after extensive chasing, I
FINALLY got the attached response from the P.O. the other day. I don't
think there's any doubt that we COULD qualify. The question is, do we
really want to deal with the hassle? Can we really guarantee that we can
meet the deadlines required, particularly if we have trouble getting the ads
to us in a timely manner?

The steering committee as a group has to make these financial decisions.
I've put as much time and effort into the advertising thing as I can, and
it's not working. I can't do that piece and work on the magazine too.
Likewise, on the postage, is everyone willing to do what it takes to get all
the information from 3 different locations (me as editor, Jack as
membership, and David as treasurer) together annually for a postal audit?

I look forward to your input. I'm thrilled with how the magazine itself is
shaping up, but this peripheral stuff is threatening to drown me!

Karen
