First place was a bow-front All-Glass tank. Frode lives in Norway. James Purchase agreed to sell the tank on Ebay and send Frode the money. James sat around doing nothing, then bailed (May 2001), leaving the job to me. I auctioned the tank (Summer 2001), and went through a major rigamarole with All-Glass and the winning bidder, finally getting the tank to him and the money in my bank account (Summer-Fall 2001). I then attempted to get the money to Frode. First I tried a postal money order; the post office doesn't do money orders to Norway. Frode also gave me an international routing number. My bank said they didn't do that-- in fact, the bank said they didn't even DO international cashier's checks, and that I'd have to go downtown to get that done (during the work week). Finally KATHY went and got this done on her day off from work. We got a check drawn on a foreign bank (DECEMBER 2001), and I mailed it (JANUARY 2002!!). Now you have to understand that my communication with Frode was of the type you saw at the bottom of this list, about once ever 2 months, "Hi Eric, where's my money?" I beleive I e-mailed him to let him know I'd sent the check to him right after I sent it. But I didn't hear back from him for another 2 months, with yet another "where's my money?" SO. I have no idea how one can do a stop payment on an international cashier's check on a foreign bank that was in all likelihood cashed back in JANUARY. Kathy thinks we can at least find out when it was cashed, but I really doubt this. I don't even know where the receipt is. David, I beleive you cannot effectively use PayPal to PAY other people, only collect money. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
