I share erik's concerns.... especially on the content of the overall weekend... and note the obvious --that for most folks the convention expenses greatly exceed $125. Other than knowing it would be in Houston and figuring it would be early Nov, I had not heard many details about the convention until today (or have not been paying attention). However, I did know it would be Houston and probably in early Nov. BTW, I had been asked and gave Charlene suggestions for heavy weight speakers a long time ago, but did not get any feedback. For the future, the SC could probably help with simple publicity ,but not sure what to say about the meat. The latter is typically the responsibility of the host group and convention chair. The SC could designate a publicity chair or ask one SC person to act as liason with Charlene/convention chair and starting in the spring provide short monthly or bimonthly announcements via <aga-announce@thekrib.com> & <aquatic-plants@actwin.com>. This can include information as it becomes available (city, dates, hotels, hotel cost, speakers, activities).... some information is known earlier than others. I have no qualms about SC sending out annoucements if this information is not provided directly by the convention committee. Neil PS. I have business conflicts for that week, but would probably not go anyway.
