So I got to thinking, maybe we could add some things to make it more attractive to people on the fence or not interested yet? Like last year, I thought it would be fun to announce the winners of the aquascaping contest. Likewise, maybe we can come up with some "draws" that aren't necessarily the (other) speakers. OK, off the top of my head (this is stream-of-consciousness, so it might sound goofy): * Stump the experts (or amateur) / panel game show / Jeopardy... "Identify the plant" "Aquascape or Not?" "Noxious Weeds" * Mini workshop: "What's new in aquatic plants this year?" * Banquet Speaker or feature. I dunno if they've planned this yet. I love banquet presentations. Especially if I'm not the one doing them. * Webcast for those who can't be there (maybe at a small fee) -- I credit James Purchase for this idea when he was trying to freeload into the convention 2 years back. * Build-a-light workshop (I'll bet Kim and/or David would LOOOVE to do this one!) * Some tie-in with Kassleman's book being out -- sheesh, it's not even MENTIONED in the brochure. Is Dave G planning on having books available by then? * Get in touch with all the speakers and have them write a paragraph for the website. For instance, I looked at the brochure, and my own talk, "Photography of the Planted Aquarium", and said "how does anyone know it's any different from last year's thing by Todd Stailey. My talk is all about how I put together my own tank to enter in Amano's contest, and all the problems I encountered along the way." * In general put MORE on the website than that silly brochure. All the other clubs do this. They have extensive coverage, speaker bio's, etc. Lots of attractants. OK, that was fun!
