I don't see the other groups stepping up yet.  In fact, ever since the 
rumor got out that "DC was going to host it", I haven't heard squat from 
Phil or anyone else.  A definite danger of these things leaking out.

I definitely plan, in my capacity as AGA head pain-in-the-neck, to push
for "no venue" if there are no bids that are feasible, so what would we 
say to Amano in that case?  "We would like to invite you to speak at next 
year's convention if we actually have it."

Aside from that, I completely agree.  If the AGA has to ask, then the "if 
at DC" phrase goes.

PS: Anyone have contact info for Shaun Winterton?  He hasn't answered his 
e-mail about his talk.
