I don't mind contacting ADA and saying "we are in the preliminary planning for a convention in fall 2004, and we'd like to know if you'd be willing to come. The likely venue at this point is D.C." That doesn't say we are definitely going to do it no matter what. What I'm NOT comfortable in doing is saying, "We're having a convention, and if DC holds it, they want you. But if someone else holds it, they might NOT want you." I'll forward Ghazanfar's latest e-mail to the list so that you can read his concerns directly.
