Re: Amano at next convention

I think we have each heard several times from Ghanzafar
about AGA2K4. I haven't heard form anyone else except for
two requests for 2 other requests for the Bid Doc. And
Ghanzafar isn't just putting work into this, he's a very
bright guy. So I'd bet money on his group having the most
thorough and well developed proposal. I understand from
some others that have talked with him about it that he has
some different ideas about the convention compared to what
we did last year. Maybe we won't like the diffs, but I
wouldn't bet on it.

He has said that he thinks Amano is key to geeting the kind
of turnout he's hoping for, around 200 or more.

Personally, I think it's too soon to go back to that well.
And there's more to give to AGAers than Amano. I'm not
knocking the master. I'm just saying, there's more to
aquascaping than his style and we presented his just a
couple of years ago. *But* I'm pretty sure Ghazanfar is
planning on attracting "new" gardeners, so my point is
possibly moot at best.

I don't know what the northeast might have in mind. I think
the Carolina folks are already thinking it would be better
to follow B'more/Wash than to compete with them. I'd be
surprised if they proposed for 2004.

Why don't we ask him to give us an outline of what he has
planned -- not a full bore proposal -- just a general
outline. And if that looks good, then let's ask for Amano.

Anyway, I can't imagine anyone turning down Amano. Although
the airline ticket will be a big hit ;-)
