Re: Fw: AGA 2004

Actually, Cheryl sent him to Barb for the numbers on convention attendees.

GG never asked me for MEMBER numbers, just attendee numbers.

I can and will do that but I have a date with my hubby now.

Just out of curiosity (actually it would be good to know) can we query the
database to find out how many AGA members there are in, say, DC, MD, PA, NJ

convention, with Amano.

That's what worries me. One of the reasons Texas worked so well was that
they didn't rely on having 110 people. They made it break even
(theoretically, at least) with a lot fewer.

Ghazanfar is very bright, but there are some things that cannot be
predicted. We don't really know how much of a draw the Amano name
actually is. We know it's good, but how good? Enough to guarantee 200
people? The number of people will also be affected by the cost of the
hotel and plane fare.

OK, now I write to James, and try to get all these issues off the plate so
I can do baby prep things today...

Karen,
I hope you have a speedy recovery following your surgery.
The tricky part with the bid proess is that a lot depends
on how large an audience we will attract. The venue, events
nad registration costs all depends on how many people
we hope will attend. That's directly tied in with
the location (which we have) and the speaker line up.
If Mr. Amano accepts our invitation, we can plan for a
larger number of attendees. However, I agree, if we
invite Mr. Amano - it should be regardless of venue.
I hope he accepts the invite! Please let me know if there's
anything we can do.

Thanks!

Hi Ghazanfar,

I'm going to try this one more time.(I've typed 2 other
resonses to you which the computer has eaten) I am typing on
a laptop in bed following surgery, which is why I didn't
respond before. It is also the reason for the different
e-mail address. The rdrcpa address is a sub-account of this
one, but the one I use most of the time. I can't get to that
account from this machine though.

I'd be happy to contact Mr. Amano, but I want to talk to the
BOD first. I don't think it would be polite to invite him
only if the convention is held in a specific venue, so I want
to be sure that if we invite him, the invitation stands no
matter where it ends up. (though, personally, I'm hoping for DC!)

Glad to hear your plants are doing well, most of mine are
too, though as with your, some were in tough shape to begin with!

Karen

Karen, I emailed you last week regarding AAG 2004 and the
possibility of having Mr. Amano as a key speaker. I didn't
hear back from you, but the email address that I sent it to (got
it off the AGA website) was different from this one.

I'm assuming

you didn't get the email?
