His hands were shaking at the auction and I asked him if he was alright. He said he has naturally high blood pressure. That made more of an impression on me than anything he said at the banquet.

I did. He talked my ear off. He's very proud of himself, even before the awards announcement. I think he'd be competent, but he really overcompensates for being a relative newbie. Keep in mind also that he joined the AGA in August. I will forward his responses now. Brace for impact. - ErikPS: Good responses to the Vicki decision on the AB forum so far. I should have done thisfrom the start... Igot a reply from James H regarding the forum issue, andwas a little takenaback by some "brazen" statements (which I'll sharewith you guys later),and wanted to do a little character backgroundchecking. Was thinking I'de-mail Roger or Ghazanfar or Phil Edwards to get anidea, but decided tocheck myself first. So I popped over to theAquabotanic forums see what'sup. But while there, I found the thread about VickiCostley's car wreck.Karen, you were dead on in your hunch. During anincredible outpouring ofgrief in late October, they collected several hundreddollars, from arounda dozen people, in about a week. This was spent on awreath at thefuneral, but there was quite a bit left over and itappears that theydidn't know what to do with it. Someone suggesteddonating to aconservation fund. Then someone said "I know! Let'sask the AGA toadminister an award in her name!" And about 2 peoplesaid "yeah, greatidea!" So I think our reply was dead-on for this. The good and bad news is, of course, that our reply wasforwarded andposted there. Bad in that people may be pissed off.But good in that atleast they'll be pissed off by our actual words ratherthan someone'sretelling. I'm going to take a break and hear David's input fromthe legal chatbefore I get back to the "forums" discussion. Too manyissues packed intoo tightly this week. - Erik PS: Third prize winner requested "Aquarium PlantsHandbook".
