Hi Scott, Just read over the GWAPA proposal with answers to our questions & three hotels. Very nice job on their part answering the questions. I think they'll do a great job! Here's a few areas that caught my eye... Translators: Rick indicated that they would like to have Amano choose his own translator. If amano chooses his own translator, he'd probably go with Hayakawa, who is his "only" translator. But we know that Hayakawa isn't nearly as good as Tomoko. Perhaps I can send them a tape of the 2001 convention so they can hear the difference between talks (Hayakawa is briefly featured doing the presentation on the Layout Contest winners). Talk schedule: Seems a little bit packed in the morning at only 45 minutes per speaker. Should allow at least an hour for talks. I understand that the Q&A time could theoretically extend into the 1/2 hour break between talks, but many speakers take the whole hour for just the talk. Questions were pretty short this year, but in previous years they have been most interesting. By moving the Bay talk to one of the workshops, this might create the perfect amount of breathing room. Remember that in previous years we had four or five speakers but NO workshops. DFW was just a tad bit overpacked in my opinion. One less talk on Saturday might make all the difference. Rates: Still are a little uneasily high. That's going to reduce the draw a little. Just a little, I hope. PA: If they get an agreement to use the "house" system for amplification, then we're set. -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
