I haven't seen the new proposal yet, so I can't comment on some of the items. I can comment on the issue of talk-length, however. As a speaker, I HEATE being confined to 45 minutes. It is just not enough if you have anything of any substance to say, particularly if you don't want to be rude by cutting off questions that come up during the presentation itself (and they sometimes do). As a conference attendee, I would feel short changed to have a a really good speaker have to limit themselves to such a short period of time. I've been to a lot of conventions, and have never been asked to do a presentation in less than an hour. Many conferences plan an hour and 15 minutes for the speaker, and another 15 for Q&A. I also completely agree about the difference in quality between Tomoko, who is a professional translator, and Nozomi, who is just a nice person who speaks both languages. I also think that if we give Amano a choice, he'll choose Nozomi, and if we're lucky, Tomoko MAY choose to come anyway. If we tell him we are PROVIDING Tomoko as a translator (assuming she agrees ;-) Amano will probably pay Nozomi's way himself, as he did the first time. Also, it hasn't been mentioned, but I'm SURE that Amano will want a little time to promote the ADA contest, and it's probably better to plan for it ahead of time.
