Re: comments on hotels and 2nd proposal from GWAPA

Hi,

You guys should read this, it is REALLY good, I thought well done. Very
responsive to our comments, which I could easily see making people testy,
they didn't seem offended which was good. It seems like communication is
open, and that everyone is listening and discovering the best path
together. Very encouraging. I am excited about the convention they are
trying to put together and will really look forward to going. I hope they
can get AMANO, their advertising ideas are great. Perhaps we can be
flexible on the date for Amano's schedule.

On the speakers...definitely need an hour for Paludarium and with
Jan...horrible to have Jan come from Europe and only talk once. Trying to
figure out how to squeeze everything in.

The bay talk, how about suggestion as a workshop! Then paludarium could
be first, with Jan next and then AMANO. OR they could do the AMANO tank
setup in the AM before lunch, (so it can run into lunch if needed) and
have AMANO do a main talk at the Banquet! It was nice having amano's talk
before the tank setup in TN because then you saw how principles were
applied. AMANO also joked a lot during the tank setup, included the
audience and over all, it was THE BEST thing I have ever seen at a fish
convention and that is going to 1-4 yearly. As for the AMANO tank for
auction...it is up to whoever buys it to have it shipped/etc.

Now on tanks like ALL GLASS, I think that it would be better to NOT have
the tank in person, and I know all glass will ship to the nearest store in
the town that person lives in. (ie a store they already ship too). I
mentioned this to Larry last year but he wanted to do a raffle on the
tank. In general, I like the raffle/auction tank, and then to the local
distributor, then out of town folks would have a chance to get it.

Jan B. If coming from Europe, again it is a shame to have him talk only
once, I would like to see him do a workshop. When you have an expert
coming out it is nice to have them talk twice. I know I felt bad in TN
when we had Winn who was an awesome speaker and really got drowned out
because AMANO was there. People made such a BIG DEAL about AMANO that I
would be VERY CONCERNED with this happening with Jan too, having two big
names there. ON the other hand, I like their program. Just not sure how
to fit it all in.

TIME-I have no idea how they can fit this all in. Maybe have Jan talk at
the Banquet, or have Amano do a main talk there...etc.

Overall again, great proposals. Hopefully they can get some hotel costs
down, again, hard in DC. Wonder if Oct is any better.

Anyways, just my 2 cents worth, please comment.

Kathy
