Good I was hoping it didn't sound too dog-in-the-mangerish.<g> But I do think that members want to see CONTENT in TAG. If we could do it with no advertising at all, that would be great, but we can't. So we have to play the balance carefully. I am SO happy that we have so much good material flowing in. But we actually have more than we can use now, withour giving up too much space that is not supporting the magazine. I think the convention is a really important part of what the AGA has become. But I don't think it should overshadow TAG. > The ACA gives a 1-page (not spread or center) convention ad free of charge > to the host club -- it's usually run in the April and June issues (for a > July convention). I don't have any problem giving them a full page in both TAG 17-2 and 17-3. But not two, and Cheryl gets to decide where it goes, based on how things fit best. We clearly don't have enough information to warrant a full page in 17-1. Once we get the hotel and dates nailed down, I thought we could use a photo of Amano setting up the tank in Chattanooga, and do an "Coming Soon... AGA2K4, The Return of Amano" box that was cute and attractive. And also, I want these guys warned in advance that is THEIR responsibility to have the ads in on time. We had to wait around much to long for the ad last year, and I don't want Cheryl stuck designing it. > The brochure or flyer COULD be stuffed in the same envelope, and perhaps > this would alleviate the "missed it because it's not separate" issue you > brought up as well? Yes, I think that's a good bet. We just need to work out the details. > I don't know how helpful the separate mailing is, so I won't comment one > way or another on that issue. I'm concerned more about the timing than anything else... 17-3 comes out too early, and 17-4 is clearly (we found out this year<g>) too late. 2 moths prior to a convention seems like the "sweet spot". Still early enough to get good plane fares, close enough that people don't put it off because they don't know what their life will be like at that point.
