The first thing we need to work on is a budget that is not dependent on a
convention. We don't want to continue tethering the ACA's existance to a
single event which may or may not be profitable -- as the convention goes,
so goes the ACA. This may take some creative thinking on how to make money
for the ACA other than through conventions, but we can do it--fish people
are nothing if not creative!
Secondly, donations. I think John H. has a handle on the situation and
would be a great Donations Chair. Perhaps in February he can calm some
waters in Florida so we can re-establish a good working relationship with
the folks down there.
We should also push the ACA store more than is currently being done. I'm
sure a lot of items are laying around gathering dust when they could be
contributing money to the cause. Updating it with photos I'm sure will help
greatly, but what else can we do to make members aware of it, and take
advantage of it?
The free subscriptions of "Aquarium Fish" to middle schools seems to have
fallen by the wayside. Our members should be encouraged to participate in
this worthwhile project. After all, who will continue the ACA after we have
all passed to that Great Aquarium in the Sky?

Greetings. Hope everyone had a good holiday season. Here goes the first
chair letter.
The Donations chair. As far as I know this needs to be filled & a job
description written up for it. My own opinion here is that the job is so
closely tied to what John Hansen has been doing that he seems to be the
logical choice, rather than posting in the Buntbarsche.
Are you willing to take this on John? How about it? Anybody got any other
suggestions?
The budget. A committee should be put together on this. What's needed is
a balanced budget that doesn't depend on convention income (at least not to
the degree it does now).
Any suggestions for this? (Chris, Wayne?)
Claudia, can you get back to on the status of the membership handbook?
Chuck R., how is the convention guidelines going?
Lastly, please have a little patience while I get my bearings. Can all of
you get back to me regarding what you think we should work on or accomplish
this year?
