I told Rick to go back to Marriot and tell him how much if we skip the catered dinner altogether. Also, he's going back to sheraton to try to get the venodr room back andthe $15 grand knocked off. This place is a 10-15 minutes subway ride from George (Where's the Weapons) Bush's house, Congress, my alma mater, and the rest of WDC. Other restuarants around? You bet; a national capital full of them! Although I can't swear about the prices if we tried to do Banq elsewhere, there's certainly aother places for meals. My first suggestion was everyone on their own for dinner and then meet for the talk and awards at the hotel. My second suggestion is do the thing midday on the 'Mall' and everyone has halfsmokes and fries for lunch from a weeny wagon. I prefer a good halfsmoke to hotel chicken anyhow (now that's real patriotism!). Let's see $68 for hotel food or $10 for a halfsmoke and and soda . . . hmmmmmmm sh --- Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote: > Hi Scott, > > There's only been 4 conventions, and only the last two > have had anything > resembling a traditional aquarium convention banquet. > The first two years > had a buffet banquet on FRIDAY night with no speakers, no > presentation, > just a tour of the tennessee aquarium in the middle of > it. > > If that's the price, this sounds like it's not doable at > all.
