That's bound to cause trouble, IMO. Just for the sake of discussion, I was thinking more like NEC does their reg form where you buy one or another convention package for bundled price. > But do you think that is going to increase attendance? > I'm not so sure. > Seems more like a perk for someone already planning on > attending. Absolutely not sure. And worse, how would one tell the impact afterwards? It would all be done on spec (gamble), on marketing instinct (I don't really claim any). It was a matter of low risk on the cost side -- trading foregone revenues (not sellng at higher price) versus an additional reg or two. > Again, to use the example of the books last year, I don't > think we gained > any extra conventioneers, but we made some of the > attendees happy. And maybe one AGAer unhappy ;-) Still the thought lingers that 'happy attendees' is the fundamental point of the whole thing, is it not? And the happier the better; the better the word of mouth the AGA conventions and on AGA. But that's a whole diff point than boosting regs at this convention. > Cool. E.g., I don't think Larry or Tim misunderstood anything I told either of them -- we had a good rapport. Ricky was another matter. Ben somewhere in the middle. But it's always a mix -- and then there was that damn prize thing. However, if GWAPA doesn't want to hear any ideas from me, then they have to say so, or at least say they disagree, which Rick has done often enough. And in the beginning, GWAPA was practically imploring for guidance. Less so now, it's true. Some of what the Board wanted was presented as recommendations (e.g., Ray), some as requirements (50/50 split on hotel liabilities), and some as my own 2 cents. They shouldn't feel pressured unless we're pressuring them. > . . .Happy to > be a dissenting opinion on this one, as it isn't a > critical matter! Well, I couldn't trust the judgement of someone that too often agreed with me. ;-) sh ===== S.
