I can definitely put things on the site.  Some folks have inquired about
certain things that plain can't be done with PayPal (partial refunds,
discounts at checkout, multiple "more info" boxes, etc), but this isn't
one of them.  My point is only one of [conf]usability... we'd be putting
two different cart buttons, one for "shirt for convention-goer" on the
convention page and one for "shirt for non-convention-goer" on another
page.  That's bound to cause trouble, IMO.

But do you think that is going to increase attendance?  I'm not so sure. 
Seems more like a perk for someone already planning on attending.

Again, to use the example of the books last year, I don't think we gained 
any extra conventioneers, but we made some of the attendees happy.

Cool.  I just know that the difference between a suggestion and an 
edict can sometimes be misinterpreted, and I how well DFW took some of the 
board's suggestions last year.

And  of course, these are simply MY suggestions, my input only.  Happy to 
be a dissenting opinion on this one, as it isn't a critical matter!
