Okay, David, et al, here's some of what I've been thinking. The AGA needs to be treated like a business. A business does not open its doors and hope the customers come in. It must actively promote itself. I think we need an Advertising and Promotions Committee.
I am shortly going to submit to the Board my Membership Committee's own small efforts in that direction. However, in the course of my research, and our discussion, there have been many good ideas (past and present) that I have had to put off or cull out because they are outside the Realm of Membership and in the World of Promotion. Ever-aware of the constant need for new volunteers when we take on new activities, I have tried to plan initiatives that I believe will be most profitable, yet that we on the Membership Committee can implement by ourselves.
David Lass's contributions to the Board, and his individual efforts, always make sound business sense. He has personally proposed and then actively led several ventures that were in the World of Promotions and outside the Dark Cave of Treasurer.
I have several ideas to share with the head of such a committee. David or whoever could do as much or as little as he likes, because at this point, *something* is better than *nothing.*
If I have stepped out of line here, or gone against protocal, then I ask the Board to forgive this ignorant grasshopper.
